Taupe Silk Robe

This taupe silk robe is fashioned out of a tonal silk brocade. The metallic braid embroidery adds weight to the design, and the piece is finished with beautiful oblong metallic woven button that remind me of bees.

For my purposes, I chose to show the outside as a framework for the inside of the garment. The seams running down the back are meticulously designed the raw edges finished. While I don’t know the mechanical reason for the indentation on the seam near the waistband, the resulting shape is quite beautiful, as side-by-side they create a scallop pattern. The waistband itself has the name of the original performer inscribed in a charming cursive hand.

The construction of the button loops as one long running thread down the inside of the placket is also both practical and intriguing.
