Rosehips and Bowling Pins
This image is of a pair of old wooden bowling pins. I bought them years ago and never did take off the shop keeper's tags and string that tie them together. The tag and string became an important part of how they looked over time, and I do like them all together that way. The frame around this image is of the boning inside a very old, French, men’s velvet vest. The details on this vest are really beautiful. The thread colors and patterns on the boning are great.
The backdrop is of rosehips that I picked in the woods in the autumn. I can’t recall if I took the leaves away or not. If they had had leaves, I would have done that to maximize the shapes of the rosehips themselves. They remind me of falling snow in the way they are so appealing. It must be the repetition of round things.
