NATURAL ELEMENTS COLLECTION
Beatrice
This is a photograph of a bronze bust of Dante’s Beatrice. It was given to me by my grandmother. I made a garland of boxwood for her head.The background is all sumacs that I picked in the autumn in the woods. The frame around the image of Beatrice is of roses.
In all of these photographs with natural elements, I have reversed the scale of the center image with that of the foliage in order to make the sumac, in this case, take on a monumental appearance. I also stripped away all of the leaves and other elements that make it look more natural so that I can really see the shape that I am interested in.
