PRINT TITLE: Buggy Mittens

DESCRIPTION: The glove and shoe collection evolved from scouting around the world of vintage clothing. The pieces that I have chosen to photograph were all, for one reason or another irresistible to me. Children's clothing and accessories are particularly intriguing because at the time that they were made, the design was fashioned to copy adult styling. As a result, the proportion does interesting things when photographed. The photographs of shoes are in color, and my idea was to make them as much about being black and white as possible in the color format. The gloves are largely tonal, but brown is a big ingredient in these pictures. Hands and feet wear their garments more thoroughly than the rest of the body, so gloves and shoes exhibit a particularly worn quality. The resulting patina has a real dimension to it.
